13/14 July 2019 – Chesil Beach
A few LSAC members headed down to Chesil Beach on the South Coast for a weekend of diving and camping.
Dive 1:
Divers: James, Mark, Simon, Jane, Paul
Max Depth: 13.9 metres
Dive Time: 52 minutes
Water Temperature: 13 Degrees C
Viz: 5-6 Metres
Dive Details: The first dive of the weekend was to try and find the landing craft not far off of Chesil beach.
After a lot of effort carrying the gear over the beach, everyone was kitted up and ready to enter the water.
The visibility was good along with the water temperature, but the current was still flowing. It was James’s first sea dive since qualifying as an Ocean Diver and fighting against the current called the dive early with Mark. The others continued and stumbled into the wreck which was covered with sea life.
Dive 2:
Divers: James, Mark, Simon, Jane, Paul
Max Depth: 15.8 metres
Dive Time: 54 minutes
Water Temperature: 13 Degrees C
Viz: 5-6 Metres
Dive Details: For the second dive we went round to Chesil Cove to avoid the current. It was busy here with many divers already in the water and many still getting in.
The visibility was good and there is lots of sea life to be seen including John Dory fish!
Dive 3:
Divers: James, Mark, Simon, Jane, Paul
Max Depth: 16.5 metres
Dive Time: 60 minutes!
Water Temperature: 13 Degrees C
Viz: 5-6 Metres
Dive Details: The third dive was on Sunday morning before heading for home again in Chesil Cove. This time we headed out to the right from the beach after being told there was some interesting wreckage that way with more chance of seeing John Dory fish.
We saw lots of John Dory on this dive and celebrated the end of a great diving weekend by trying to drink beer underwater.
