12 January 2020 – Stoney Cove
LSAC head to Stoney Cove for some OW Sport diver training and to enjoy the unusually good visibility at Stoney Cove.
Dive 1:
Divers: Will, Paul
Max Depth: 20 metres
Dive Time: 27 minutes
Water Temperature: 7 Degrees C
Viz: 6-8 Metres
Dive Details: To continue Wills open water training for his Sport Diver this lesson was a simulated decompression dive after an exploratory dive using a distance line.
The dive started by descending the shot line onto the Stanegarth. A distance line was then used to navigate around the Stanegarth and then reeled in on the return journey.
A 3-minute simulated decompression stop was conducted on the shot line at 6m.
Dive 1:
Divers: James, Dominic
Max Depth: 10 metres
Dive Time: 24 minutes
Water Temperature: 7 Degrees C
Viz: 6-8 Metres
Dive Details: This was Dominics first open water dive with LSAC, first dive of 2020 and also his first drysuit dive.
The dive started by descending to 3m for a buoyancy check and to check for air leaks etc. James and Dom then proceeded down to 6m to explore the submarine and to find Nessy. A nice shoal of fish were in with Nessy.
They then returned staying along the edge of the ledge to the ramp which drops down into the deeper water where they descended to see the Viscount aircraft cockpit. A nice pike was lurking inside the cockpit and hung around for some photos and videos.
Following the pike they returned to where they got in and exited.
Unfortunately, the second dive was called off due to a misunderstanding of what time the last dive of the day should be! Must get out of bed earlier next time!
