1 February 2020 – Stoney Cove
7 LSAC members headed to Stoney cove for some fun dives and sport diver training. It also got the February dive done for the 2020 challenge
Dive 1:
- Divers: Simon, Dominic, Jane and James
- Max Depth: 21.1m
- Dive Time: 22 mins
- Water temperature: 6C
- Viz: 8m
For Dominic, this dive covered the SMB lesson. James and Jane were following for a fun dive. The dive started on the 6m ledge and then descended down to the helicopter from the submarine.
From here we proceeded to the Stanegarth from the helicopter and the visibility meant the boat could be seen not long after leaving the helicopter and emerged from a dark shadow.
We then followed the Stanegarth anchor line to the anchor, up the wall and to the cockpit. No pike in the cockpit this time.
To end the dive a 6m safety stop was finished and all exited the water.
Dive 2:
- Divers: Paul, Jack and John.
- Max Depth.
- Dive Time
- Water Temperature
- Viz
Dive 3:
- Divers: Simon, Dominic, Jane and James
- Max Depth: 19.7m
- Dive Time: 37 mins
- Water Temperature: 6C
- Viz: 8m
This dive covered the distance line and simulated decompression modules of the sport diver lessons for Dominic.
The dive started by descending the shot line to the Stanegarth and practising line laying around and through the Stanegarth. Once the line had been retrieved we proceeded to the tug again with Dominic laying a distance line. A quick look at the tug and then it was time to return to the Stanegarth and ascend the shot line for a simulated decompression stop of 3 minutes at 6m. A nice dive, but a bit colder for Jane and James on this one as they were spectating.
