10th July 2021 – SS Artemisia, Sea Palling
Lowestoft Diver, the club RIB, was made ready and loaded with dive kit and then towed and launched into the sea ready for us to set off just before 9:30. The co-ordinates for the wreck of the Fulgens was set into the GPS and we soon arrived at the site.
The viz looked OK at the surface even though it was fairly close the shore but we had loads of time until slack so we went to see if we could pick up the wreck of the Beaver on our sounder before going further out to the wreck of the SS Artemisia. After several passes over the wreck we threw the grapple over the side and hooked in first time.
- Divers: Paul, Aaron, Simon, Nick
- Max Depth: 24.7 metres
- Dive Time: 36 minutes
- Water temperature: 14 degrees C
- Viz: 6 metres
- Dive Details: The 4 of us descended the shot line together as 2 buddy pairs. Paul and Aaron arrived at the grapple first and attached a wreck line and led the way around the big boilers. Simon and Nick followed, although the viz was good enough to see the line from several metres away without having to hold on to it. The wreck was teaming with life, shoals of large pouting bib, lots of dead man’s fingers, wrasse, lobsters, crabs and anemones
