First UK open water dives of the year with Simon Boor, Nigel Powley, John Smith, Mark Owers, James Brown, Hayden Close and Paul McIlwaine. It was a cold and cloudy day and very windy. Water temperature went down to 6 degrees and viz ranged from half a metre to about 3 metres. We saw lots of crayfish, perch and a pike.Read more "27 April 2019 – Gildenburgh"
This time last year Alex had a crazy plan to go diving at Gildy but then fell over and bumped his head so he couldn't join the others who had committed to go. Alex suggested that we should go to Gildenburgh to do the first dive of the year but due to slipping on the ice, cracking his head and visiting A&E after an LSAC night out on Friday he was advised not to dive. Unfortunately, the rest of us didn't have an excuse not to go. 3 cars left Lowestoft around 7 am and met up for the traditional breakfast at Swaffham. The weather wasn't very good, it was grey and overcast with constant light rain, but after our pit stop, we continued with the journey and checked it at the dive site at 9:20.
