- Dive Details:
I had seen this dive posted on the Facebook Vis report groups a few times by the locals and had seen it as a good sheltered dive when the wind was south westerly. Like it was this time.
We threw the kit out of the car at the little roundabout at the top of the beach path and parked in the pay and display on the other side of the roundabout down the road. Opposite the old brewery. (Don’t forget change for parking)
Quickly kitting up and entering the water the entrance was very shallow, between 1 to 2 meters. We swam out a little noticing it wasn’t getting much deeper so we dropped down anyway.
We headed out to the yellow buoy in the bay, swimming over sand all the way, with very little to look at.
Once past the buoy we discovered a small reef which had more life, but nothing very big. We swam along the reef heading north to the edge of the cove. It was a little deeper here and there was more life in amongst the weed.
After swimming for 35 mins in shallow water Paul eventually signalled to go up and on the surface we discussed surface swimming back to save the air we had left for a night dive later on.
Surface swimming back involved a small race, and also practising recovery tows with the casualty also finning to gain more speed. Who would have known its possible to create a small wake doing this?
