James was keen to try out his 12l twinset which he has had for a while, but was yet to dive and Jane wanted to practice with her new wing setup a bit more.
We descended onto the Stanegarth and swam around the wreck before venturing inside. James wasn’t convinced his twinset would fit through the doorway, but on second try managed it with ease. Its about wriggling into the right position.
The plan was to swim from here to the tug and back, but after heading off, and with the visibility not quite as good as last year what loomed out of the murk was the Wessex helicopter to our left. No problem, that makes the swim out a bit less. A quick look around the Wessex and we swam along the bottom of the cliff to the ramp, up and onto the ramp to the Viscount cockpit.
Now with her narrower wing, jane managed to swim into the cockpit and was intending to exit through one of the front windows, this was a little ambitious and it was amusing to watch Jane figure out how to turn around in the narrow space and exit.
From here we swam along the 6m ledge following the ledge and made an exit. A nice dive.

Determined to find the tug and the APC, the plan was to drop over the cliff onto the Wessex, and follow the cliff base to the tug, the trawler and finally the APC before ascending the cliff to the Gresham.
While swimming along the cliff base a group of divers were heading towards us kicking up a rather large cloud of silt. We decided to pass over them but with the murk behind as we passed over and lost sight of the bottom it became a little disorientating. We descended a little to find the bottom but now needed to find the cliff base again. Eventually we found the tug having taken a little longer than expected.
A quick look at the tug and the trawler and we headed back to the cliff to start our ascent.
After a 10m safety stop on the wall we ascended to the 4m Block house and made a cup of tea!
We swam back along the shallow ledge and got out.
