Simon and Nick, met Paul and Zak about 9am at this inland diving site for some Ocean Diver open water training. Paul had his own dry suit but Zak hired one from the shop. From the surface the visibility looked really good and the site wasn’t too busy either which was surprising as it was a bank holiday weekend.

There’s always time to get a cheeky dive in, even when you’re on a camping trip to the Lake District. We were staying at Park Foot Holiday Park situated on the top right corner of Ullswater Lake, near the village of Pooley Bridge. It is the second largest lake in the Lake District and is about 7 miles long, 0.75 miles wide and over 60 metres deep.

Plan the dive – dive the plan. Unfortunately, no plan survives first contact with the enemy. The enemy, in this case being roadworks covering most of Norfolk.
Despite this 3 members of Lowestoft Sub Aqua Club and an honoured guest travelled to Gildenburgh for the first UK official club dive of the year.

5 divers all met up at the training quarry over flow car park in Leicestershire between 08:00 and 08:30. Even though they all arrived at different times they all managed to parked alongside each other in the main car park.

The predicted sea state at Weybourne looked ideal for a shore dive on the wreck of the SS Rosalie. It was a mid week dive so not many many members could attend as they would have been working. We decided to dive the high water slack tide which meant we were entering the water at 10:30.

The strong Northerly winds wiped out any chance of diving North Norfolk. An alternative was to go to Gildenburgh Water in Eastrea Cambridgeshire to do some open water training.

After working for many years as commercial diver in the oil and gas industry, Ken requested that we dive a specific pipeline that he had an interest in. So, for the second dive of the day we travelled 11 kilometres up the coast just off Bacton in search if Kens pipeline.
